Getting started
How to Create a Project in TaskRely
A project is where one piece of work lives - its own board, its own tasks, its own settings. Everything else in TaskRely happens inside a project, so it's always the first thing you set up. Every project starts the same way: give it a name, decide how the board should look, and you're in. It takes less than a minute if you go with the defaults, or a bit longer if you want to set everything up your own way from the start. Here's the full walkthrough.
Open the new project form
From your dashboard, click New project. You'll find this button in a couple of places - top right of the dashboard home, and again above the list on the Projects page - so it's never far away. Either one opens the same form.
Add the basics
A project name is the only thing you actually need to fill in. You can also add a short description and, if it's useful, a longer README for any background the team should read before jumping in. None of this is permanent - the name, description, and README can all be changed later from the project's settings, so don't overthink it here.
Shape the board
Click Continue and TaskRely opens a screen where you set up the board before it exists. You'll see four lists side by side - Sizes, Priorities, Columns, and Departments - each already filled in with sensible starting values, like Small/Medium/Large for size or To Do/In Progress/Done for columns. Labels get their own section just below.
You can edit any of these, remove the ones you don't need, or add your own with the New button next to each list. If you'd rather start from a clean slate, tick "Skip default options. I will create my own options" - this clears the sample sizes, priorities, columns, and labels so you can build them from scratch. Departments still get created either way, since every project needs at least one team to assign work to.
Create it
Click Create. TaskRely builds the board and takes you straight to it, ready for the first task.
Next, it's worth setting up who can access the project and how - covered in Project settings & access.
