Teams and Project Visibility in TaskRely
Inviting people to a project one at a time works fine for a small group. It stops working once you want an entire department to be able to browse a project without anyone individually adding all twelve of them. Teams solve that specific problem.
What a team is
A team is org-wide, not tied to any single project - it's a named group of people from your organization, like "Engineering" or "Marketing." It's a completely different thing from a department, which lives inside one project. A team's only job is to be something a project can be made visible to.
You'll find it in the sidebar under Teams. It's available to any org member to view, but it needs at least a Growth plan on your organization's subscription to use at all.
Creating a team
Only an org admin can create or manage teams. Click New team, give it a name and an optional description, and it's created empty. Click into it afterward to add members - pick someone from your organization's roster and click Add, one at a time. Remove someone the same way, with the small X next to their name.
Deleting a team removes it outright - if it's still set as a project's visibility team when you try, TaskRely blocks the delete rather than silently breaking that project's access.
Using it for project visibility
Open a project, go to Settings, and find "Who can see this project?" There are three options: Only people invited to this project (the default - nobody else can even see it exists), Anyone on a chosen team, and Anyone in the organization. Pick the team option and a second dropdown appears, letting you choose which team.
What visibility actually gives someone
Team and organization visibility only let people browse the project - see the board, open tasks, read what's there. It doesn't make them a member. To actually assign someone a task or let them leave a comment, they still need a real invite through Manage access, the same as anyone else. Think of team visibility as opening the windows, not handing out keys.
