Ways to see the work
Timeline & Gantt Chart View in TaskRely
The board and the calendar both show a task on one day. Timeline shows how long it actually runs, and whether it overlaps with everything else - the one view built to answer "does this schedule actually work."
- Open your project. You'll see its list of departments first.
- Click into a department. This opens that department's board.
- Find the small row of tabs near the top - Board, List, Calendar, Workload, Timeline. Click Timeline.
Now every task shows up as a row, with a bar stretching from its start date to its due date. A task with only one of those dates gets drawn as a single-day bar. A task with neither doesn't appear - the count at the bottom tells you how many are hidden that way, with a link straight to List view to go set one.
A few things worth knowing:
- Each bar is colored by the task's current status, the same colors you'd see on the board.
- A finished task's bar fades slightly and gets a small checkmark on it.
- A task that's overdue - not done, and its due date has already passed - gets a red ring around its bar, so it stands out without you needing to check every date.
- A thin red line marks today, running down through the whole chart.
- Three buttons at the top right - Day, Week, Month - zoom the chart in or out. Day spaces things out for a close look at a busy week; Month compresses everything so you can see a whole quarter at once.
- Click a task's name on the left to open it, the same as clicking its card on the board.
Timeline is read-only in the sense that it's built from the dates already on each task - dragging a bar doesn't reschedule it. To actually move a date, open the task and change it there, or drag it on the board if it's a status change you're after.
