Ways to see the work
Project Insights & Analytics in TaskRely
The board tells you what's happening task by task. Insights steps back and tells you the shape of it - how many tasks are in each status, which labels have the most work sitting under them, how priority is spread across the project. It's one chart, built from your own tasks, that you shape yourself instead of a fixed report someone designed for a different project than yours.
Opening Insights
Open your project, click the ••• icon at the top, and choose Insights. It sits next to Settings and Reports in that same menu.
Two things worth knowing before you look for it: Insights only exists at the project level - there's no separate version inside a single department. And it needs at least Write access to the project; if your role is Read-only, the page won't open for you at all.
Layout: the chart type
The first dropdown picks how the chart is drawn. There are six:
- Bar - horizontal bars.
- Column - the same thing, standing upright. This is the default.
- Line - a line connecting each point instead of bars.
- Stacked Area - a filled line chart, with grouped values stacked on top of each other.
- Stacked Bar - horizontal bars, with grouped values stacked inside the same bar.
- Stacked Column - the upright version of Stacked Bar.
The "stacked" options only really show something extra once you've also picked a Group by below - without one, a stacked chart looks the same as its plain version, since there's nothing to stack.
X-axis: what each bar is
This decides what the chart is counting tasks by. Four options: Status (the default), Labels, Size, and Priority. Pick Status, for example, and you get one bar per column on your board, each showing how many tasks currently sit there.
Group by: splitting it further
This is optional, and it breaks each bar down by a second field instead of just showing one total. The choices are None (off, the default), Labels, Size, Priority, and Status.
One rule to know: X-axis and Group by can't be set to the same field at the same time. Whichever one you've already picked simply disappears from the other dropdown's list - so if you're looking for "Priority" in Group by and don't see it, check whether it's already your X-axis.
Reading the chart
Every value on the chart is a count of tasks - how many fall into that status, that label, that size, or that priority. If a combination has no tasks in it yet, the chart just says so plainly instead of showing an empty, confusing chart. Change any of the three dropdowns and the chart redraws immediately - there's nothing to apply or refresh.
