Subtasks in TaskRely
Some tasks are too big for one line. "Launch the pricing page" isn't one action - it's copy, design, a build, and a go-live step, and each of those might belong to a different person. Subtasks let you split a task like that without losing the thread back to the original.
How subtasks work
Inside any task, find the Subtasks panel and click Add subtask - type a title and it's created right there, no separate form. Each subtask is a real task in its own right, with its own status, assignee, and place on the board; it's linked to its parent, not trapped inside it.
That link is one level deep on purpose. A subtask can't have subtasks of its own - nested checklists inside checklists tend to turn into a maze nobody keeps up with, and one clean level covers almost every "break this down" situation.
Where it shows up
The parent task shows its subtasks as a list with a done-count next to the section title, so you can see progress without opening each one. That count rolls up to the card on the board too, right beside its priority and size - and subtask cards are filtered out of the main column view, so you're not seeing duplicate-looking cards cluttering the board next to their parent. Open a subtask directly and it shows a "Subtask of" link straight back to its parent.
What they don't do
There's no separate "mark done" checkbox on a subtask row - completing one means moving it through the board like any other task, since that's what triggers completion tracking and notifications. Subtasks also aren't currently reflected in List, Calendar, Timeline, or Workload views - the parent/child link is visible on the board and inside the task itself.
