Recurring Tasks in TaskRely
If part of your work happens on a schedule - a weekly report, a monthly review - you already know the hassle of rebuilding the same task from scratch each time. Recurring tasks remove that.
How it works
Open a task and look for the Repeats field. Pick a frequency - daily, weekly, or monthly - set how often (every 1 week, every 2 weeks, and so on), and optionally a "repeat until" date. The rule saves straight to the task.
Here's the part worth knowing: nothing runs on a timer. TaskRely isn't checking a calendar in the background. The next occurrence is created the instant you drag the current one into a column flagged Done - finishing the work is what triggers it. It lands in your first column with the dates shifted forward by your interval and the same assignees and labels already attached.
Where the dates come from
The next occurrence is based on the task's end date (or its start date, or the day it was completed, if no end date was set), then shifted forward by your interval. If the original task had both a start and end date, that same span carries over - a three-day task stays a three-day task every time it repeats. Set a "repeat until" date and generation simply stops once the next occurrence would land past it.
Every occurrence is its own task
Worth knowing if your organization uses performance scoring: each occurrence is a fully independent task, not a shared record that resets. It has its own completion date and its own place in every report, so a recurring task never gets counted twice, and it never gets forgotten either.
