Google Drive Integration in TaskRely
Instead of pasting a Drive link into a task's description by hand, TaskRely can talk to Drive directly - attach a file that already exists, or create a brand new Doc or Sheet without leaving the task you're looking at.
How it works
This is one shared connection for the whole organization, not a personal one per person - the same setup as the AI assistant. An admin connects a single Google account once, from Integrations, and from then on every member can attach files from that same Drive to any task they have access to.
Connecting Drive
Go to Integrations in the sidebar and click Connect Google Drive on the Google Drive card - admins only. That takes you to Google's own sign-in and permission screen; approve it and you're brought back to TaskRely, connected. The card then shows which account is connected and when.
What you can do with it
Once it's connected, open any task and look for the Google Drive button next to its attachments:
- Attach existing file - opens Google's own file picker for the connected Drive. Pick a file and it's linked to the task instantly.
- New Google Doc / New Google Sheet - creates a blank file straight in Drive, named after the task, and attaches it in the same step. It opens in a new tab automatically so you can start writing right away.
Files you create this way are filed into a folder for that project automatically, the first time anyone creates one there - you don't have to go looking for it or organize it yourself. Picking an existing file doesn't move it into that folder; it stays wherever it already lives in Drive.
Drive also shows up as an export option: on a project's or the organization's backup section, an Export to Drive button appears alongside the regular downloads once Drive is connected. It uploads the same full backup file straight into the connected Drive instead of downloading it to your computer.
Privacy
The permission TaskRely asks for is deliberately narrow - it can only see or manage files it creates itself, or files someone explicitly picks through the file picker. It can't browse the rest of that Drive account, and connecting it doesn't hand TaskRely access to every file sitting in it.
Disconnecting
An admin can click Disconnect on the same card at any time. That stops anyone from attaching or creating new files through TaskRely, but it doesn't touch anything already attached - existing links on tasks keep working exactly as before, since they're just links to files that still exist in Drive.
